Premium and the free-tier limits
PiggyTask is free to use — not a trial with an expiry date. Premium lifts the quantity limits and unlocks the playful extras. Here is exactly what that covers.
What the free tier covers
All of everyday use: creating and assigning tasks, recurrence, the bonus pool, coins, XP and levels, streaks, your own rewards in the shop, several kids, several parents, shared or individual devices. None of it is time-limited.
Two things are limited: how much can be open at the same time, and the playful extras.
The quantity limits at a glance
| Area | Free tier | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Recurring mandatory tasks | 5 | unlimited |
| Open one-off mandatory tasks (family-wide) | 20 | unlimited |
| Bonus pool (one-off + recurring) | 5 | unlimited |
| Shop rewards | 5 | unlimited |
| Task drafts | locked | available |
| Seasonal events | locked | available |
| Avatar cosmetics | locked | available |
| AI integrations (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor) | locked | available |
| Alternative app icon | locked | available |
| Watch app (Apple Watch, Wear OS, Garmin) | locked | available |
What counts is always what is currently open. Completed tasks take up no space. And regardless of Premium, a kid can keep at most 2 bonus tasks open at once — that is a deliberate design decision, not a paywall.
What Premium unlocks
Every character. From the farm (cow, chicken) to fantasy (dino, unicorn), each with its own exclusive decoration category — all part of the subscription, no separate pack purchases.
Pets. Small, purely cosmetic companions next to the character — from a tiny bird to a snail, 3 magic coins ✨ each.
The mini-games in full. Both games are playable for free; Premium unlocks all levels.
Seasonal events. An advent calendar in December, Halloween in October — with daily doors, exclusive cosmetics and bonus levels. These events can also be bought individually as one-time purchases, without Premium.
Task drafts. Prepare tasks and publish them manually, or automatically on a start date.
Connections. Todoist and Microsoft To Do can be connected as task sources. The AI integrations (creating tasks by chat via ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor) are part of Premium too.
Alternative app icon. A second, colorful home-screen app icon — in a light or dark variant, set from device settings (also right on a child device).
Watch app. Read and answer approval and cancellation requests, and see how the kids are doing, right from an Apple Watch, a Wear OS watch or a Garmin — no need to find your phone.
The Premium subscription
Premium is available as a subscription, monthly or yearly — it unlocks every character, pets, mini-games, connections and extras, plus all future and seasonal content, for as long as it runs.
On top of that, seasonal events are available as separate one-time purchases, in case only one part interests you, independent of the subscription.
Prices are shown in the Premium shop inside the app, because they differ by store and country. Purchases go exclusively through the App Store, Google Play or the Amazon Appstore — in the web version you only see what to expect. If you changed devices, restore purchases brings your unlocks back.
What happens when Premium expires
This is the question that matters most before buying, so here it is in full:
Nothing is deleted. Tasks, progress, coins, streaks and rewards are kept in full.
Whatever is over the limit pauses. If you created more recurring mandatory tasks, bonus entries or shop rewards than the free tier allows, the oldest stay active and the newest pause. They are still there, just not live.
It is reversible at any time. As soon as you are back under the limit — because you deleted something, say — or reactivate Premium, every entry is active again immediately. There is no cut-off date after which something disappears for good.
For the avatar, the default pig keeps everything you unlocked with coins. Premium animals and looks show their default appearance without an active subscription and come straight back once Premium is active again.
In short: an expired subscription costs you convenience, not data.

Is PiggyTask really free to use?
Yes. The free tier is not a trial and does not expire. Quantity limits apply, and the cosmetic and seasonal extras stay locked — everyday use with tasks, coins and rewards works fully.
What happens to my tasks when the subscription expires?
Nothing is lost. Tasks, progress, coins and streaks stay. If you created more than the free limit allows, the newest entries pause automatically — the oldest stay active. As soon as you are back under the limit or reactivate Premium, they are all back immediately.
What does Premium cost?
The prices are shown in the Premium shop inside the app, because they differ by store and country. Purchases go exclusively through the App Store, Google Play or the Amazon Appstore.
Is Premium also available as a one-time purchase?
No. Premium is subscription-only (monthly or yearly). A one-time purchase would not cover the ongoing server costs — the subscription is the only option that sustains that long-term. Seasonal events like the advent calendar can still be bought individually as one-time purchases.
